Academic Overview
Elim Institute has been equipping men and women since 2010 in Yangon, Myanmar. Our purpose is to train and equip disciple maker for God's work among the nations and the most unreached communities in Myanmar. In Elim Institute we focus on cross-cultural mission work, practical evangelism, and new church planting strategy, and multiplication of disciple makers. Elim Institute is not only a school, it is a movement! While the students are doing research and study, they are sent to reach the community to preach, teach and multiply disciples. Student study about the culture, tradition, different religious view of the unreached people of Myanmar and the '10/40 Window' of the world. We train how to reach the Buddhist people by the Gospel more effectively and powerfully. This missionary training takes 18 months in 3 years with our recommended subjects on missions.
At Elim, our mission is to equip men and women to serve God faithfully, to proclaim the Gospel boldly, and to transform communities through the love Christ. Elim Institute is not just an institution of higher learning - it is a training ground for servant leaders, a place where faith and knowledge unite for the sake of God's Kingdom.
Our Goal is fully committed to evangelism, disciple making, church planting, church growth, and revitalization by training present and future servant leaders through character development, academic excellence, and practical ministry experience in the context of biblical integrity.
Elim Institute's Vision is to spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ to the most unreached people in Myanmar and beyond the world.
Elim Institute History
In 2010, Freedom From Chains Mission College was founded by Pastor James Amar in Yangon, Myanmar. The College was started with 5 students, who were called to serve their own people groups in the unreached area, Myanmar. In the second year, the student increased to 23 and most of those student are pastors, evangelists and ministry leaders. The College was run in the rented facilities for 3 years.
In 2013, God provided us college property in East Dagon, Yangon, Soon after the building was built, the college nam e was changed to Elim Mission Collage. Since 2010, there were 106 graduated from Elim, and 91% are serving full time missionary, and pastor.
The College was postponed for Covid-19 in 2020, and because of the country unrest and torn apart, the college continue to postponed until 2025. In the midst of unrest, hunger, economic collapse, Elim Church mission movement has been greatly impacted the lives of Myanmar people and in the world. It is believe that our mission college has to be restored to trains and equips more missionaries, pastors, teachers, evangelists, leaders and more workers for Christ.
After 5 years of preparations with prayers, our missionary training school is officially launched as Elim Institute. Our mission has always been clear: to multiply disciple of Christ, and to equip men and women to serve God faithfully, to proclaim the Gospel boldly, and to transform communities through the love of Christ. Elim Institute is not just an institution of higher learning - it is a training ground for servant leaders, a place where faith and knowledge unite for the sake of God's Kingdom.
